Title: Mid-Level Tax Controversy Associate
Location: Hybrid -New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Washington, DC

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with complex tax disputes and litigation, focusing on multinational entities (international tax and transfer pricing), high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and their related entities.
  • Work with clients, in-house tax and legal teams, accounting firms, and representatives of taxing authorities.
  • Handle research, analysis, and preparation of legal documents, including briefs, motions, and tax-related filings.
  • Collaborate with a team and independently manage cases while ensuring timely resolution of disputes.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, and government agents.
Requirements:
  • Admission to practice in the state where applying.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant law experience, ideally at an AmLaw 100 law firm, large accounting firm, or relevant government experience (IRS Chief Counsel, DOJ Tax, Tax Court clerkship).
  • Background in economics or accounting is helpful.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clients and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in international tax, transfer pricing, or high-net-worth tax matters is preferred.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and third parties, both verbally and in writing.
  • Produce timely, high-quality work products, meeting deadlines and expectations.
  • Note: A cover letter and writing sample are required for this position.
Education: 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a nationally ranked law school
